Photography Inspirations- LANA DEL REY, CHARLI XCX & EFFY STONEM- PLANNING

LANA DEL REY

Lana Del Rey, as an artist, is portrayed as an alternative and current individual in these images because she displays styles that are trending throughout the world- curly hair with volume, deep shades of red on her lips, smokey eyes and defined brows. I've already explained that I plan to apply a berry coloured lip on Amber for my main artist Zara Leigh, with smokey eyes and a curly hairstyle which makes a direct link to my inspirational images of Lana Del Rey, who looks exactly how I want Zara Leigh look- aspirational and individual. I feel these photos are heavily focused on Lana due to no conflicting elements in the background (mise-en-scene), it reinforces her significance and professional 'look'. By making direct eye contact to viewers/audiences Lana is made to look open and confident, despite holding her leather jacket/turning away slightly from the camera; this relates to Lana being an established artist and not having to try so hard to appeal to people because her fans are also established and admire her overall image.

CHARLI XCX

I admire the way Charli poses really naturally in photos. It suggests she is established as an artist and doesn't have to try hard to impress people, it also communicates she is comfortable within herself. I also like the way Charli's hair falls over her face etc- it adds to her style (mise-en-scene) which I intend to style Amber's hair like. Charli also makes quite a lot of direct contact in her photos which is positive for her audience/viewers.

EFFY STONEM

Whenever involved in a photoshoot Effy makes little effort (intentionally) to make 'normal' facial expressions, e.g. smiling/laughing at the camera. She simply poses in her own individual way; posing in photographs is quite a common feature to a music magazine where artists are concerned- the above images of Effy have inspired me to capture Amber posing with minimal facial expressions in close up camera angles - this will highlight that Zara Leigh takes her newfound career seriously and wants to succeed in what she does, as well as looking attractive.  I feel the minimal effort towards facial expression contributes to Effy's establishment and profession also; as a result I felt this would make my artist look more professional too.
